Choosing Baby Thank You Cards

Believe it or not there may be a time when choosing a baby thank you cards becomes a more difficult decision than you thought possible! You might have chosen birthday cards, wedding invitations and a whole host of greetings cards over the years without the slightest difficulty, but now choosing baby thank you cards has suddenly become an issue you may need help with.

The birth of your baby boy or girl has been announced using designer baby announcements and you have received many cards congratulating you on becoming a new mother. If you were fortunate enough to have twins, you should have already sent a twin birth announcements. Your baby shower is over and you have received some marvelous gifts, both practical, such as diaper packs and cot blankets, and for the baby, such as mobiles and toys. Your baby has just been christened, or has celebrated his or her first birthday. For each of these you now have to select the baby thank you cards that are appropriate for the occasion and for the gifts that have been so kindly and lovingly given.

You have to choose a card that will truly express your gratitude to all your friends and family that have taken the time to send you these wonderful baby gifts. What factors should you consider when choosing your baby thank you cards so that they appear unique and not just purchased as multi-packs from a local discount store?

What do you do? You have two basic options: hit the streets and shopping malls or go online. Which of these do you believe will offer you the best results? In fact do you know the results that you want, or are you simply seeking some ideas because right now you have no idea of the type of card you should be send to thank those that offered the gifts, or even those that turned up at the Christening or baby shower.

How about personalized cards? A personalized card of any type indicates to the recipient that they are regarded as an individual and not just one in a crowd. It is important that your friends and family that have gone to the trouble of purchasing gifts are thanked for it, and how nice it would be for them to be thanked personally by your baby. It is important to know how to properly write and word baby shower thank you cards as well.

Have their names printed on each card with a thank you note from your baby - perhaps with a scrawl or even just a thumbprint in ink or paint at the bottom of the card. Many would think that cute and very thoughtful, and that it must have taken a great deal of work, but perhaps they would be unaware of the planning you had put into making sending so many cards easy for you.

Here are one or two tips on planning ahead with your baby thank you cards:

1. Write out a list of people who you believe will come to the baby shower, or who will send baby presents when he or she is born. All your relatives and best friends are obvious choices. Make your choice of the size of cards you want to send - they usually come in standard sizes - and ask the card supplier for a supply of envelopes in advance.

You will likely have to place your order in advance, with an agreement that the size of the order will be flexible, but you can now start writing out the names and addresses on the envelopes long before the happy event. Writing three or four each night won't be difficult, and before you know it all you have to do on the day is note those that you had not covered and discard those that disappointed you! All you need do then is sign and insert the cards.

2. If you are good with a computer, add all these names and addresses into a special file on your Contacts list, and mail merge them so that you print all the envelopes at each 'rites of passage' stage in your child's life. You can include or exclude those relevant to each, and add or remove as time goes by.

3. Combine baby thank you cards by noting who sends you cards or gifts at each date: maybe the Christening is close to a birthday, so you can combine baby thank you cards for both, or perhaps you have two children whose important dates are close.

4. Choose a good online card company that you can trust to provide you with what you need and stick with them. Once you are recognized as a regular customer, many online card businesses will hold your important dates in their databases and send you reminders or special offers close to important dates for your family.

These are just a few tips on how to plan ahead and make sure that choosing baby thank you cards or any other form of thank you or commemorative card is made easier for you. It is better to select and stay with one online card provider, particularly one that offers custom or bespoke cards for any occasion, because you know what you get and they know your important dates
