Personal Thank You Notes – Polite Manners In An Increasingly Impolite World
The need for effective communication has never been greater and there is no better way to express your feelings and emotions than through personal thank you notes. Unfortunately we’re living in an increasingly impolite world, it’s sad but true. There is certainly a price to be paid for efficiency, speed, headphones, Ipods, computers, telecommuting and so on and so forth. The personal thank you notes have never been more important.
Thankfully we always have a choice, we don’t have to settle for anything less than impeccable manners in our world, we can make a conscious choice to be as sincere, polite, and thankful as we like. How do we do this? By simply writing personalized note cards.
Whether we recognize it or people are doing things for us every day. It pays to be attentive to all the little ways in which people are making our lives better, easier, and more enjoyable…and then sending them a quick personal note. It doesn’t have to be anything grandiose, just a simple thank you along with some authentic personal words is perfect.
The smallest kindnesses, when added up, are what make our world a pleasant place. And thanking people just makes us feel good. There are so many opportunities. How about leaving a note in the mailbox for the mail carrier who slugs your mail day in and day out? How cool would that be? You’d certainly make their day.
When you’re invited to a party, any party, whether big or small, write a thank you note. You’ll solidify your bond with the host in a way that the other guests haven’t. You’ll not only be invited back but they’ll be glad that you appreciate all the work that they put into the event. Planning a party and putting it all together is a lot of work, and usually that work goes unrecognized.
Even if you chose not to attend a function because you’ll be out of town send a thank you note anyway. They thought of you, so return the favor. Don’t be one of those people that floats through life without the gift of gratitude. That’s no way to live.
Gratitude is empowering, not only does it make us feel good, but it motivates us to live a better life. It bonds us to our fellow man. It isn’t just a thank you card that you’re sending you’re sending your gratitude. Everyone naturally gravitates to a person who has gratitude, they are always well liked and respected.
Yes, sending thank you notes is the polite thing to do in an ever increasing impolite world, you’ll stand out from the crowd by simply following through and doing it, but that’s not the point really, is it? What are good manners really for? Well, manners allow us to show respect, gratitude, love, sincerity, all the positive feelings that we as human beings share. Is there anything that’s more needed in today’s world?
Sending personal thank you notes is not something that’s required, it’s not something that we have to do, and most people don’t take the time. But those people that don’t are truly missing out. When you give of yourself and let someone know that they are appreciated you make the world a brighter place. Both you and the person you send the note to are forever changed and bonded.
Don’t think of thank you notes as a chore, but as an opportunity to participate in the world with gratitude.
