Avoid These 6 Costly Mistakes When Ordering Your Wedding Invitations
Each year I see couples repeat these same costly wedding invitation mistakes. Making these mistakes can cost you hundreds of dollars and serious frustration.
1. Listen to your local stationer when they tell you to order more invitations sets than you think you will need. This is mine number one mistake that I see over and over again and by far the most expensive. If you think youï¾’ll need 100 invitations, definitely order 125 instead. Cost difference between those quantities is perhaps $200. If you only order hundred and need to reorder an entire new set of 25 it could cost you almost as much as the entire first order.
2. Order your invitations early. I see it too often when couples become consumed with other wedding details and forget to water their wedding invitations on time. Order your invitations at least four months prior to the wedding.
3. Mail your invitations at least 6 to 10 weeks ahead of time which will allow your guest ample time to plan for your event. A better way to do this is to use a save the date card anywhere from six months to a year in advance of the wedding.
4. Request a sample or take one of your invitation sets to the post office to be weighed ahead of time. This way you will know the amount of postage that will be required and there will be no invitations returned.
5. Donï¾’t forget to include an RSVP date either on the invitation or the response card so you will have an accurate count to three weeks before the wedding.
6. Proof your invitations and response cards very carefully. Skimming over these proofs can result in additional proof charges as well as having to have a plate remade which will end up costing you money.
Following the steps will eliminate a lot of frustration and hopefully allow you to have its move and stress free wedding.
