What Makes Letterpress Invitations Special?

Letterpress invitations are becoming a mandatory part of wedding planning. If you are getting married or know someone who is getting married, they are probably discussing which invitations are right for them. They are probably deciding if it is worth it or not to モinvestヤ in the more expensive options like letterpress versus thermography or engraving. But within all this one must ask What makes letterpress so special?

Everyone has a budget, or so they think before they decided to get married. That changes everything. Sometimes budgets go out the window! But there are ways to scale down a nice set of invitations and make them more affordable. First, lets get rid of those that just don't care or already know they aren't going to spend extra on invitations. They won't buy it anyway, but for those that have the keen eye for nice design, beautiful fonts and a fondness for dexterity let's take a closer look.

One of my favorite subjects is design. I look around at all these new websites and digital this and digital that and I see such garbage when it comes to design. It is now rampant and really makes me cringe. But when I see something special it all comes back to me and I am renewed. So it is with letterpress invitations and personalized stationery. Design matters and what that means is attention to typography. Boy, is that an overlooked subject at school these days. This really can get intricate, meaning the distances between letters, sizing serifs and mixing it all up until it really looks great.

The other characteristics that come into play are the quality of paper. Many customers today want environmentally sustainable options like 100% cotton or recycled PCW papers. Many go so far as to offer solar powered printing and vegetable based inks. But lets get back to paper for a moment. Paper thickness is like the difference between a Mercedes and a Volkswagon. There is just no comparison when it comes to look and feel. This is what letterpress does so well. By pressing/smashing the thick paper you get the beautiful result of a debossed surface filled with just the right amount of ink and yielding a work of art. You really just want to touch and feel it, hold it up and admire it. Wow, that's what makes letterpress invitations so special!
